7. Install new element in filter housing.8. Install filter element and housing. Clean and install drain plug. 9. Use nut on bottom of filter housing to tighten housing.10. Start and run engine at low idle. Inspect for leaks. 11. Measure oil level. Oil level should be between FULL and LOW marks on the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.12. Stop engine. Do not close access doors if the hydraulic system pilot filter is to be changed.(24) HYDRAULIC SYSTEM PILOT AND IMPLEMENT FILTERS
Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. Hot oil or components can cause burns.
Machine must be level, implements lowered, parking brake applied, engine not running, Power switch OFF and key removed. Change the Pilot or Implement Filters when the respective PLUGGED FILTER indicator comes ON during operation. 1. Drain oil from pilot filter housing, remove and discard pilot filter element as outlined in TRANSMISSION FILTER, steps 2 through 9, in the 500 SERVICE HOURS or 3 MONTHS section.
Hydraulic system tank may be pressurized. Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.
2. Unlock and raise floor plate. Slowly remove filler cap to relieve pressure. Install cap. 3. Remove four bolts and remove implement filter cover.4. Inspect cover seal. Replace seal if damaged. 5. Remove and discard two filter elements. 6. Remove screen and clean in a non-flammable solvent.7. Clean cover in a clean non-flammable solvent.8. Install clean screen.9. Install two new filter elements.10. Install cover and bolts.11. Start and run engine at low idle. Inspect for leaks. 12. Observe oil level. Oil level must be above the ADD COLD mark. Add oil if necessary.13. Stop engine.14. Close pilot filter access doors.15. Lower and lock floor plate.(25) FUEL TANK FILLER CAP AND SCREEN 1. Remove filler cap. 2. Remove retaining ring and screen.3. Wash screen in clean non-flammable solvent.4. Disassemble filler cap.5. Wash cap and element in clean non-flammable solvent. Squeeze element dry.6. Inspect cap gasket. Replace gasket if damaged.7. Lightly oil element and assemble filler cap.8. Install screen, retaining ring and filler cap.(25)A COOLING SYSTEM -- Add Corrosion Inhibitor
Use caution when removing radiator filler cap. Steam can cause personal injury.To prevent possible personal injury do not allow inhibitor, which contains alkali, to contact skin or eyes.
Machine level, engine stopped and cool. 1. Remove radiator filler cap.2. Add Caterpillar Corrosion Inhibitor, or equivalent. Follow recommendations given on container.3. Inspect filler cap gasket. Replace if damaged.4. Install filler cap.
