Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the saw motor and the tensioner from the harvester head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Saw Motor and Chain Tensioner - Remove".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove valve (1) from manifold (2). Remove nipple (8) and seal ring (7) from manifold (2) .
Remove two hydraulic hose fittings (5) and seal rings (6) from manifold (2). Remove manifold (2) from saw motor (4). Remove two O-rings (3) from saw motor (4) .
Remove nipple (9) and seal ring (10) from saw motor (4) .

Remove spanner nut (18) from housing (11). Remove locking washer (17), washer (16), and washer (15). Remove housing (11) .
Remove snap ring (13) from housing (11). Remove bearing (12) from housing (13) .

Remove four screws (22). Remove housing (19), O-ring (20), and washer (21) .
Remove the O-ring seal from inside housing (19) .
Remove spring pin (23). Remove bearing (24) .

Remove two screws (44). Remove thrust washer (34). Remove the two O-rings (43) that are located between thrust washer (34) and saw bar (33). Remove saw bar (33). Remove two O-rings (43) that are located between saw bar (33) and holder assembly (31) .
Depress holder assembly (31). Remove screw (27), piston (28), and seal ring (29). Release the pressure on holder assembly (31) and remove holder assembly (31) .
Remove four screws (42). Remove bracket (30) .
Remove grease fitting (40) and spring pin (41) .
Remove two screws (26). Lift lever (25) and pin (35) from the tensioner. Push pin (35) out of lever (25) .
Remove two screws (37). Remove control valve assembly (38). Remove three O-rings (39) from the outside of control valve assembly (38). Remove two O-rings (36) from the plug that is located inside control valve assembly (38). The plug is not shown in Illustration 4.

Remove two screws (46) from housing (47). Thread grease fittings into these holes. Use a grease gun to inject grease through the fittings. The grease will push shafts (45) from the tensioner.
Inject the grease until the grease appears around shaft (45). Remove shaft (45) .

Remove locking screw (63). Remove plug (57). Remove air spring (58), seal ring (59), piston (60), guide ring (61), and seal ring (62) .
Remove locking screw (56). Remove bushing (50) and piston (52). Remove O-ring (48), O-ring (49), and O-ring (51) from bushing (50). Remove seal ring (53), guide ring (54), and O-ring (55) from piston (52) .Note: Clean all parts. Check the condition of all seals and of all components. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacements.
