Remove the existing oscillation joint bearings.3. Press the outer half of 077-9536 Bushings (6) into steer pivot assembly (2) and end plate (5).
Line up grease holes in bushings (6) OPPOSITE of the grease supply holes in the steer pivot assembly (2) and end plate (5).
4. Heat the inner halves of 077-9536 Bushings (6) to 120°C (250°F) and install them onto oscillation shaft (1).5. Refer to the corresponding Disassembly and Assembly Manual to install the yoke. Install end plate (5) using four 7X-8034 Shims, two of them as upper shims (3) and two as lower shims (7). Install eight bolts (4) and tighten them to a torque of 184 N m (136 lb ft).6. Place a dial indicator on end plate (5) as shown. Place the indicator dial on the center of oscillation shaft (1).7. Using a pry bar, move the yoke forward and rearward to determine the end play. Add or subtract shims as necessary to achieve an end play of 0.18 mm (.007 in). Then, subtract the appropriate amount of shims to achieve a negative end play (bearing preload) of up to -0.1 to +0.05 mm (-.004 to +.002 in). Refer to the chart for shim part numbers and thicknesses. Try to achieve the specified end play (preload) with an equal thickness of shims in the upper and lower locations. If it is necessary to adjust the end play (preload) by an amount less than the thickness of a shim, add or remove a single shim to the upper or lower location only. This will change the end play (preload) by approximately half the thickness of the shim.8. When the appropriate end play (preload) has been achieved, tighten eight bolts (4) to a torque of 800 Nm (592 lb ft).9. Grease this assembly using 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease or equivalent.10. Refer to the corresponding Disassembly and Assembly Manual to install the drum.
