Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Attach a suitable lifting device to adapter (4). The weight of adapter (4) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Place adapter (4) in position on the camshaft drive gear and install the bolts that hold adapter (4) in place.
Install gear (3) on adapter (4).

Install the O-ring seal on housing (1). Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal.
Attach a suitable lifting device to housing (1). The weight of housing (1) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb). Place housing (1) in position on the rear housing and install the bolts that hold housing (1) in place.

Place the original thickness of shims and housing (2) in position on housing (1) and install the bolts that hold housing (2) in place.

Use Tooling (B) and measure the backlash between the gear and pinion (5). Add or subtract shims in order to obtain a backlash of 0.284 0.030 mm (0.0112 0.0012 inch). End By:
Install the governor or the governor actuator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Governor - Install" or Disassembly and Assembly, "Governor Actuator - Remove and Install".
