To prevent damage to the lubrication tubes, install two 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) dowels into the planetary shafts at Locations (X) . Use the dowels to align tube assemblies (29) with the lubrication holes (X) in the planetary shafts as planetary carrier (18) is installed.
Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to install planetary carrier (18) and sun gear (19) . The weight of planetary carrier (18) and sun gear (19) , as a unit, is approximately 1093 kg (2410 lb).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to install ring gear (16) . The weight of ring gear (16) is approximately 722 kg (1592 lb).
Install bolts (17) .

Lower the temperature of bearing cups (14) . Install bearing cups (14) and bearing cones (13) ,Note: The bearing cones and bearing cups are matched sets. Do not mix components during the assembly.
Repeat Step 70 and Step 66 for the remaining planetary gears.

Use Tooling (L) to install planetary gear (12) into planetary carrier (7) . The weight of planetary gear (12) is approximately 64 kg (140 lb).

Support the planetary carrier deck at the locations indicated prior to the installation of planetary shaft (11) . Align the shaft locator hole (X) outward. Use Tooling (K) and a suitable press to install planetary shaft (11) into planetary carrier (7) .Note: Failure to support planetary carrier deck properly can result in damage to planetary carrier.Note: Rotate the planetary gear as the planetary shaft is being pressed.

Position planetary carrier (7) onto a suitable work bench. The weight of planetary carrier (7) is approximately 363 kg (800 lb).
Use Tooling (S) to measure the gap between the planetary shaft and the machined surface of the planetary carrier. Average the measurements and record the result as Dimension (X) . Install a number of shims (10) that is equal to Dimension (X) within a tolerance of +0.00 / -0.05 mm (+0.000 / -0.002 inch). Apply Tooling (M) onto bolts (8) . Install plate (9) and bolts (8) . Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft). Repeat this step for the remaining planetary gears.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to Install planetary carrier (7) . The weight of planetary carrier (7) is approximately 363 kg (800 lb). Apply Tooling (N) onto thrust washer (5) . Install thrust washer (5) and sun gear (6) .
Remove Tooling (B) and replace bolts (4) that are indicated with an (X) . Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).

Install O-ring seal (3) onto over assembly (2) .Note: If the sight glass needs to be replaced, do not use power tools for installation.

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install cover assembly (2) . The weight of cover assembly (2) is approximately 130 kg (286 lb).
Apply Tooling (K) onto bolts (1) . Install bolts
