SHIELD (Lower R.H.) 6N0705 - Caterpillar

During installation of the pushrods, care must be exercised to ensure that the end of the pushrod seats correctly into the lifter cup. Use a flashlight in order to inspect the installation of the pushrod end in the lifter cup prior to starting the engine. Damage to the valve train components will occur if the components are not assembled correctly.

Before assembly, apply clean engine oil or 8T-2998 Lubricant to the ball end and sockets of the pushrod. Also prior to installation, lubricate the rocker arm shaft with clean engine oil.

2 2 247-3422 Nut Torque to 120 15 N m (89 11 lb ft).
3 1 - Diameter of the new rocker shaft is 50.25 0.05 mm (1.978 0.002 inch).
4 1 - Bore in the 254-5922 Bushing after installation is 50.086 0.015 mm (1.9719 0.0006 inch).
- - - Valve lash adjustment for inlet valve is 0.8 mm (0.03 inch).
- - - Valve lash adjustment for exhaust valve is 1.3 mm (0.05 inch).
