Start By:a. separate track assemblies Adjust the height of tooling (A) so when it is installed under the frame of the machine, there is enough clearance provided for removal of the fourth track roller.1. Lift the side of the machine, and install tooling (A) under the frame as shown.2. Use a pry bar, move the front idler and recoil spring forward in the track roller frame approximately 152 mm (6 in).
View From Under Track Roller Frame3. Remove the fourth track roller (1). See, "Remove & Install Track Rollers" in this module. Two bolts (3) are used to hold the hydraulic track adjuster in position. Both bolts are located above the horizontal bulkhead as shown in Photo C35246P1.4. Using two persons, remove two bolts (3) and hydraulic track adjuster (2) from the track roller frame. Remove the hydraulic jack adjuster from between the third and fifth track roller. The weight of the hydraulic track adjuster is approximately 23 kg (50 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the hydraulic track adjusters.5. Be sure the hydraulic track adjuster and the front and rear faces of the vehicle bulkhead in the roller frame are clean and free of dirt and debris.6. Put hydraulic track adjuster (2) in position in the track roller frame, and install two bolts (3) that hold it. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 305 30 N m (220 22 lb ft).7. Reinstall track roller (1). See, "Remove & Install Track Rollers" in this module.8. Using a pry bar, move the front idler and recoil spring against the hydraulic track adjuster.9. Lift the machine off of tooling (A), and remove the stands from under the machine. Lower the machine to the floor.End By:a. connect track assembliesDisassemble Hydraulic Track Adjusters
Start By:a. remove hydraulic track adjusters1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the hydraulic track adjuster prior to disassembling it.
Typical Example2. Attach a grease gun to fill valve (4). Pump grease through the fill valve and into cylinder (6) to remove piston (2). Remove the piston.3. Remove the O-ring seals and back-up rings from the piston.4. Remove the two bolts and stopper plate assembly (5) from cylinder (6). Remove relief valve (3) and fill valve (4) from the cylinder. Remove seal (1) from the cylinder.Assemble Hydraulic Track Adjusters
1. Be sure all parts of the hydraulic track adjuster are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly.
Install back-up rings (2) and O-ring seals (1) on piston (3) in the positions shown in Illustration C47762P2. Do not interchange the position of the back-up rings and O-rings When piston (3) is installed in cylinder (7), be sure to keep it square to prevent possible damage to the back-up rings and O-ring seals.
2. Install O-ring seals (1) and back-up rings (2) on piston (3) in the positions shown in Illustration C47762P2.3. Put a small amount of 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease on the sliding surface of piston (3). Be sure the grease covers back-up rings (2) and O-ring seals (1).
