Remove the front housing.
Remove the engine oil pump.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Note: Ensure that all components are clean and free from wear and damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.
Hot parts or hot components can cause burns or personal injury. Do not allow hot parts or components to contact your skin. Use protective clothing or protective equipment to protect your skin.
Illustration 3 g06280302If necessary, install a new friction shim to the crankshaft.If necessary, install a new key to the crankshaft.Use Tooling (B) to heat the crankshaft gear to 150° 50°C (302° 90°F). Align the keyway on the crankshaft gear with the key in the crankshaft.Note: Ensure that shoulder (X) of the crankshaft gear is toward the front of the engine.End By:
Install the front housing.
