life expectancy of the RFID tags is equivalent to the life expectancy of safety apparel. Environmental conditions affect the longevity of use. Ensure that the Cat® Detect for Personnel safety apparel is kept from collecting excessive layers of the following:
Dirt
Ice
SnowIf debris begins to layer, brush off the Cat Detect for Personnel safety apparel.Store the safety apparel in a location that prevents debris from building up on the surface.RFID tags cannot be removed from the safety vest. It is not recommended to place safety vests in washers or dryers. Ensure that the safety apparel is not submersed in water for a significant amount of time.Ensure that the RFID tags are not exposed to temperatures above 60° C (140° F).Do not remove RFID tags that have been attached to a hard hat. Removing will affect adhesiveness of the tags.Avoid bending, creasing, or impacting RFID tags to maintain proper functioning and adhesiveness.Test the Cat Detect for Personnel safety apparel before use. Use the following steps to test the apparel:
Turn on the machine.
Verify that the display indicates that the Cat Detect for Personnel system is in the "Ready to Detect" state.
Have a personnel walk the Cat Detect for Personnel safety apparel into the detection range of the antenna.
If the system properly alerts that safety apparel has been detected, the RFID tags are functioning properly and can be used.
If the system does not detect the safety apparel, the RFID tags may not be working properly. Replace the safety apparel.
