1     358-7234     Differential Case    Note: The 358-9130 Washer , 8C-7562 Flat Head Screw, and 4C-9506 Retaining Compound or 4C-9507 Retaining Compound are needed for rework.Use a thrust washer that has a four screw design and a retaining compound during assembly. An improved design can be achieved by replacing the differential case, washers, and screws or reworking the differential case by achieving the four hole design on the differential case halves.ReferenceRefer to the Disassembly and Assembly for instructions on removing and installing the differential on the machine that is being serviced.

358-9130 Washer (8) Position of new threaded holes
Use the 358-9130 Washers as a template in order to locate the two new holes (8) for the screws. Perform the following:
Drill and tap the two holes in the face of each case half 7 mm (0.2756 inch) to a depth of 24 mm (0.9449 inch).
Counter bore the holes to a diameter of 12 mm (0.4724 inch) and to a depth of 3.5 mm (0.1378 inch).
Use a M8x1.25 Tap in order to tap the holes to a depth of 18 mm (0.7087 inch).
Clean all contact surfaces with a cleaning solvent before you proceed.
Apply a thin layer of retaining compound to the contact area of the washer for each differential case.Note: The 4C-9506 Retaining Compound is contained in a 10 ml (.33 oz.) bottle. The 4C-9507 Retaining Compound is contained in a 50 ml (1.67 oz.) bottle.
Install the new 358-9130 Washers against the differential case.
Apply a sufficient amount of retaining compound to each screw in order to lock the threads and bond the screw head firmly to the washer.
Torque each screw to 12 3 N m (106 26 lb in). Do not exceed the recommended torque for each screw.
