The correct delivery date is required information on a truck engine warranty claim. Since the terms of the warranties before November 1, 1977 and on or after November 1, 1977 differ, it is even more important that the correct delivery date be known before a warranty decision is made.
The delivery date, or in-service date to the initial user, is the beginning date of the warranty period. It must be provided on the warranty claim. The user has the responsibility to provide proof of the delivery date. If your records do not contain this information, there are other methods (listed below) of obtaining this information:
Kenworth
To find the delivery date for vehicles delivered prior to June 1977, you may call Kenworth's Seattle Warranty Division (206-822-8445). However, Kenworth prefers that you first try to call the selling dealer.
The delivery date for vehicles delivered since June 1977 is stamped near the serial number on the right frame rail flange behind the front wheels.
Peterbilt
The delivery date and serial number are typed on a gum-backed decal which is placed on the glove box door. If the information cannot be found, Peterbilt prefers that you call the selling dealer.
As an alternative, you may call Newark, California or Madison, Tennessee, depending on the serial number. To obtain the delivery date of vehicles with serial number ending in "P", call Newark, California (415-796-2011); for vehicles with serial number ending in "N", you may call Madison, Tennessee (615-865-8910).
Freightliner
A warranty book containing the delivery date is provided with each truck. The delivery date is also stamped near the serial number on the left hand frame rail near front tire. Fleets may not have a warranty book; if not, look at the left hand frame rail or call the selling dealer.
International Harvester
A warranty service policy book containing the delivery date is provided with each truck. The delivery date is also stamped on the specification plate, which is located on the left hand door. If you are unable to find the delivery date, call the selling dealer. Fort Wayne will accept calls only from I.H. Regional personnel.
GMC And Chevrolet
The delivery date is in a warranty booklet which is provided with each vehicle. The OEM's dealers will not honor customer claims without this booklet.
The delivery date should also be stamped on the left hand door. If not, the fleet home office can provide the information. As an alternative, call the selling dealer.
White
The delivery date should be stamped on the right hand frame in the middle of front spring saddle. If not, you must call the selling dealer.
Mack
To obtain delivery date, you must call the selling dealer.
Ford
An owner card stamped with the delivery date is provided with the vehicle. If not, contact the selling dealer or the customer's home office. As an alternative, call the Ford District Office.
