INADVERTENT STARTING OF THE ENGINE COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY. SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH.

Remove the inspection hole cover on the clutch housing and check the clutch facing for wear. If necessary, adjust the clutch as follows: 1. Disengage the clutch with the hand lever.2. Rotate the clutch, if necessary, to bring the adjusting ring lock within reach. 3. Remove the clutch adjusting ring lock assembly from the clutch pressure plate and adjusting ring. Then, while holding the clutch drive shaft to prevent the clutch from turning, turn the clutch adjusting ring counterclockwise and tighten the clutch until the desired pressure on the outer end of the hand lever is obtained.When properly adjusted, the approximate force required at the outer end of the hand lever to engage the clutch is 60 to 70 pounds (27 to 32 kg). This specified force is applicable only with the hand lever which is furnished with the power take-off. A suitable spring scale may be used to check the force required to engage the clutch.
THE THRUST LOAD ON THE BRONZE CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING SHOULD BE KEPT AT AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. THEREFORE, THE HAND LEVER SHOULD BE POSITIONED ON THE SHAFT AS NEAR THE 12 O'CLOCK OR 6 O'CLOCK POSITION AS POSSIBLE. THE 9 AND 3 O'CLOCK POSITIONS ARE TO BE AVOIDED.
Changing The Fuel Filter Element

1. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the filter assembly.2. Holding the filter base, unscrew the setscrew in the center of the filter head and lower the base and filter element. Discard the filter element.3. Thoroughly clean the filter head and base.4. Inspect the sealing rings and replace if damaged in any way.5. Place the base squarely on the bottom of the new filter element and move the element squarely to the filter head so that the top rim of the element is located centrally against the sealing ring in the filter head.6.
