Disconnect hose assembly (23) from cap (22).

Remove four bolts (24) and the washers that hold cap (22) to the frame assembly. Note: Shim pack (25) (not shown) and cap (22) will be removed when suspension cylinder (1) is removed.

Use a suitable lift truck in order to position Tooling (A) on front axle (15). Support the weight of suspension cylinder (1), front axle (15), and brake assembly (10) with Tooling (A) and a suitable lift truck.

Remove ten bolts (26), the nuts and the washers. Remove four bolts (27), the nuts and the washers. Discard ten bolts (26) and four bolts (27). Note: Use only new bolts (26) and (27) for installation. The used bolts will have been stretched and the bolts should be discarded.
Remove suspension cylinder (1), brake assembly (10) and front axle (15) as a unit . The weight of suspension cylinder (1), brake assembly (10) and front axle (15) as a unit is 3574 kg (7880 lb).

Remove key (28) from frame assembly.

Position Tooling (A) on level ground. Pull two cotter pins (X) that are located on Tooling (A).

Position Tooling (B) onto the wheel assembly. Position a suitable lifting device around suspension cylinder (1) and Tooling (B). Secure the lifting device to a hoist. Remove eight bolts (Y) and the washers that are located on either side of the base of Tooling (A). Remove suspension cylinder (1), brake assembly (10) and front axle (15) as a unit from the base of Tooling (A).

Position suspension cylinder (1), brake assembly (10) and front axle (15) onto the base of Tooling (A). Install two cotter pins (X).

Position the forks of the lift truck on Tooling (A). Lower suspension cylinder (1), brake assembly (10), and front axle (15) onto the base of Tooling (A). Remove Tooling (B).
Remove brake assembly (10) and front axle (15) from suspension cylinder (1). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Axle - Remove".

Remove cap (22) from suspension cylinder (1).

Place cap (22) onto a suitable work bench. Use a screwdriver in order to remove lock ring (29) from cap (22).

Use Tooling (C) in order to remove bearing (30) from cap (22).
