C 2P-8312 Snap Ring Pliers 1 Note: The following procedure illustrates the installation of the left axle shaft. The same installation procedure is used for the right axle shaft. The length of the right axle shaft is approximately 2600 mm (8.5 ft) and the weight of the right axle shaft is 100 kg (220.5 lb). The length of the left axle shaft is approximately 2740 mm (9 ft) and the weight of the left axle shaft is 107 kg (236 lb). The tire and rim (rear) have been removed for the following procedure. The tire and rim (rear) does not have to be removed to perform this procedure.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before installation, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.
Check all the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Lubricate all the seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

If necessary, install clamp (8) onto axle shaft (4).
Position clamp (8) so that the inside edge of clamp (8) is approximately 1318 5 mm (4.32 0.016 ft) from the small end of axle shaft (4), as shown.
Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of two bolts (7). Install two bolts (7) to install clamp (8) onto axle shaft (4). Tighten two bolts (7) to a torque of 30 4 N m (22 3 lb ft). Stake two bolts (7).
