Removal Procedure
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Place identification marks on the harness assemblies that are connected to the electric starting motor and the solenoid.
Remove the nuts from harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2) (not shown).
Disconnect harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2) (not shown) from electric starting motor (3).
Remove bolts (4) from electric starting motor (3). Support the electric starting motor as the bolts are removed.
Remove electric starting motor (3) from flywheel housing (5). Installation Procedure
Ensure that the electric starting motor is clean and free from wear and damage. If necessary, replace the electric starting motor.

Position electric starting motor (3) onto aperture of flywheel housing (5).
Install bolts (4) to electric starting motor (3) hand tight. Support the electric starting motor as the bolts are installed.
Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 50 N m (37 lb ft).
Connect harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2) (not shown) to electric starting motor (3).
Install the nuts to harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2) (not shown).
Tighten nuts for the harness assemblies, refer to Specifications, "Alternator and Regulator" for the correct information.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
