The transmission breather is located in an area near the pivot shaft oil bottle. The breather is on the bracket with the high speed oil change group for the power train. Unscrew and remove the transmission breather.

Clean the breather in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Allow the breather to air dry.
If the transmission breather is damaged or if the breather is not reusable, discard the used breather element. Install a new breather element.
Install the transmission breather. Alternate Location
Some later machines will have an alternate location for the power train breather. This location is inside the enclosure above the left fender.
