Piston assembly (1) Shaft (2) Sleeve(3) O-ring sealThe piston assembly includes a piston shaft and a sleeve. The sleeve contains internal seals for the piston and an external O-ring seal for the actuator. One end of the actuator has a solenoid with a connector for the wiring harness. Proper removal and installation is required in order to avoid damage to the shaft, the O-ring seal, the solenoid, and the connector.
Removal
Actuator assembly(1) Hex end of the piston assembly(2) Flats of the actuator body(3) Solenoid (4) Connector for the wiring harness When you secure the actuator in the vise, be careful not to damage solenoid (3) and connector (4).1. Secure flats of the actuator body (2) in a vise. Removal of the piston assembly will be easier if the actuator is placed in a vertical position.2. Loosen hex end of the piston assembly (1) with a wrench of the appropriate size. Remove the piston assembly.Installation
Damage to the surface of the piston shaft and/or the external O-ring seal on the sleeve will allow leakage of hydraulic oil. Protect the surface of the piston shaft during installation. Be careful not to damage the O-ring seal.
1. The actuator has an internal spring. Insert the piston assembly into the housing of the actuator. Align the spring into the sleeve of the piston assembly.2. Tighten the hex end of the piston assembly to 125 15 N m (90 11 lb ft).
