C     327-9235     Seal Installation Tool     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to torque converter housing (19) . The weight of torque converter housing (19) is approximately 79 kg (175 lb). Position torque converter housing (19) onto transmission (21) . Install bolt (12A) and bolts (20) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 20 N m (73 14 lb ft).

Remove lip seal (22) from the packaging. Be careful not to touch the inside diameter. Inspect lip seal (22) for damage. Ensure that the spring is installed properly before installing the lip seal onto Tooling (C) . Apply a thin film of the fluid that is being sealed to the outside diameter of lip seal (22) prior to installation. Install lip seal (22) onto Tooling (C) so that the "spring open" side is oriented away from the driving face of Tooling (C) . Ensure that the sealing surface of the torque converter housing is clean and free of damage. Use Tooling (C) to install lip seal (22) in the torque converter housing. Use Tooling (C) in order to drive in the lip seal. A "ring" sound will indicate that the lip seal is fully seated.Note: Ensure that Tooling (C) is in good condition and free of defects. Store Tooling (C) in a VCI bag in order to prevent rust and contamination.
If equipped, install the rear PTO shaft.

Note: Bolt (12A) was installed earlier.
Position pump (12) and install bolts (11) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft). Position housing (17) and install bolts (18) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft). Install oil level sensor (14) . Tighten the bolts for oil level sensor (14) to a torque of 14 3 N m (10 2 lb ft). Connect harness assembly (13) . Install tube assemblies (15) and (16) .

Apply Tooling (B) to the mating surface of oil pan (10) . Apply Tooling (B) at the joint of the torque converter housing and the transmission housing. Position oil pan (10) and install bolts (9) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft).
