Use Tooling (D) and remove retaining ring (52) and shims (53). Remove bearing (54) and sun gear (55) as a unit from shifter (2).

Use Tooling (C) and remove retaining ring (57) from sun gear (55).
Remove bearing (54) and bearing (56) from sun gear (55).

Unscrew two screws (3). Remove flange (58) and planetary gear set (59) as a unit from ring gear (60).

Remove ring gear (60) and O-ring seal (61) from housing (62).

Use Tooling (C) and remove retaining ring (64) from planetary carrier (63).

Remove planetary gear set (59) and O-ring seal (65) from flange (58).

Use Tooling (D) and remove retaining ring (66). Remove bearing (67) from flange (58).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install housing (62) in a suitable press and install Tooling (E) on Position (B) of housing (62).
Apply downward Pressure (A) on bearing discs (69), compressing spring (71), compressing spring (73), and joint (72). Maintain pressure and remove retaining ring (68).
Slowly release the pressure on the press so that piston (70) is pushed by spring (71). Joint (72) will be in either Condition (C) or Condition (D). If joint (72) stays in Condition (C), send the joint to Condition (D) with the use of a suitable hammer. Gradually loosen Tooling (E) on housing (62) from Position (E) to Position (F) until the spring pressure is released.
Remove bearing discs (69), bush (74), joint (72), and spring (73).

Install housing (62) in a suitable press, as shown. Install Tooling (F) and Tooling (G). Press spring (71) and move bottom element (76) against housing (62). Use Tooling (C) and remove retaining ring (75).
Gradually release the pressure load on Tooling (F) until the spring pressure is released. Remove bottom element (76).

Remove spring (71) and piston (69). Remove O-ring seal (78) and backup ring (77) from piston (69).
Remove O-ring seal (79) and backup ring (80) from housing (62).
