Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies to prevent fluid loss, and to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Put orientation and location marks on all fittings for installation purposes.

Disconnect tube assembly (1). Disconnect coil wire (2). Remove bolt (4) and disconnect the ground wire. Remove bolts (3). Disconnect tube assembly (5). Disconnect tube assemblies (6) and (7), and plug with Tooling (A) .Note: If spark plug replacement is necessary, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "ARD Spark Plug - Inspect/Replace" for the correct procedure.

Loosen hose clamp (8). Disconnect tube assemblies (9). Remove tube assembly (5) .

Remove nuts (10) and spacers (11). Remove combustion head group (12) .
Remove the gaskets and the tube assembly. Remove studs (13), if necessary.Note: The gaskets are for one time use only. Replace with new gaskets upon installation.Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

If necessary, apply Tooling (B) to studs (13) and install studs (13). Install the tapered end in the body. Orient Mark (X) toward the nuts. Tighten studs (13) to a torque of 17 2 N m (12.5 1.5 lb ft).Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Install the new gaskets and the tube assembly.
Install combustion head group (12) .
Apply Tooling (B) onto the threads of studs (13) and nuts (10). Install spacers (11) and nuts (10). Tighten nuts (10) in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 23 3 N m (17 2 lb ft). Tighten nuts (10) again in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 28 3 N m (21 2 lb ft). Tighten nuts (10) again in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 28 3 N m (21 2 lb ft).

Install tube assembly (5). Connect tube assemblies (9). Tighten hose clamp (8) .
