Implement ECM Calibrations
The following calibrations can be performed to the Implement ECM:
Cylinder Drift Checks- The Lift Cylinder can be calibrated to align the ECM software to the range of the physical component. The cylinder is extended and retracted five times to establish an average distance of travel. After the Lift Lever Is released, the actual cylinder drift is recorded by the Implement ECM. After engine has reached low idle, actual drift for a new cylinder should be within 1% of travel distance. The calibration ensures that the cylinder does not experience a significant level of drift. Cylinder drift may be caused by the Lift Cylinder, or Implement Valve. Additional tests, such as the cylinder isolation test, may be required to determine the source of the drift.
Implement Lift Time Check- This calibration checks the function of the Right Front Pump and the Right Rear Pump. Use the control lever to place the bucket in the full “rackback” position. Slowly lower the linkage to the minimum position and bottom out the lift cylinders. After setting engine speed to high idle, move the lift lever into the full raise position. The calibration ensures that the lift cycle time is acceptable.
Implement Main Relief Pressure Test- The calibration involves placing the linkage in the fully raised position, followed by placing the bucket in the full rackback position. After releasing the lever, move the Lift Lever into the full raise position. Hold that position until the program directs the operator to release the Lift Lever. The Main Relief Pressure will then be recorded. If the pressure is outside the acceptable range, an adjustment of the Main Relief valve may be required.
Lever Calibrations - Each lever can be calibrated to align the Implement ECM software to the range of the physical component. The calibration records the duty cycle at each end of lever travel. Also the calibration ensures that the lever centered duty cycle is within a certain range. This information is then used to calculate a normalized lever position and a lever input command.
Linkage Sensor Calibration - Each linkage sensor is calibrated to align the Implement ECM software to the range of the physical component. The calibration records the duty cycle at two linkage positions that define the maximum rotation angles for that sensor. This information is then used to calculate a normalized angle position.
Implement Valve Calibrations - Each implement valve solenoid is calibrated so the Implement ECM delivers the current needed to achieve the desired valve stem displacement. For pumped functions (Raise, Rack), the calibration will try to build pressure in the system by upstroking one or more implement pumps. Then, the current to the valve solenoids will be increased and the calibration will monitor the cylinder position for any change. Next, the calibration will destroke the pump back to standby displacement.
