When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain 20R2840 and 20R2841 Cylinder Packs were built using an incorrect liner and sleeve combination. If installed in an engine the sleeve will stand higher than the block surface and will not allow the cylinder head to be installed.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 20R2840 and 20R2841 Cylinder Packs in dealer parts stock.
Inspect the for build date range of 01 June 2017 through 14 February 2018. Refer to Image 1.
If a cylinder pack is not within the date range, then mark the packaging as inspected per this program and place the cylinder pack into dealer parts stock.
If a cylinder pack is within the date range, then inspect the cylinder liner in the cylinder pack.
If a cylinder pack contains a 350-0074 Cylinder Liner, then mark the packaging as inspected per this program and place the cylinder pack into dealer parts stock.
If a cylinder pack contains a 454-9920 Cylinder Liner, then replace the 454-9920 Cylinder Liner with a 350-0074 Cylinder Liner. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure. Once the cylinder liner has been replaced, place the cylinder pack into the packaging and then mark the packaging as reworked per this program and place the cylinder pack into dealer parts stock.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all cylinder packs reworked in dealer parts stock. 0.5 Hour will be allowed to remove 454-9920 Cylinder Liner and install a 350-0074 Cylinder Liner. One 350-0074 Cylinder Liner will be allowed per each cylinder pack that needed a replacement cylinder liner.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Carefully remove the piston and rod assembly from 454-9920 Cylinder Liner. Apply clean engine oil to the cylinder liner bore. If necessary, use 1U7616 Piston Ring Compressor (A) to compress piston rings and install piston and rod assembly into the 350-0074 Cylinder Liner. Refer to Image1.1.1.
