Troubleshooting Chart
Issue Possible Cause Possible Solution
Hydraulic hammer does not raise or raises slowly when pumping hand pump. Relief valve on had pump is open Close valve
Hand pump oil reservoir is low Verify oil level
Hydraulic leak Check hoses/fittings for leads. Repair as needed.
Malfunctioning hand pump Repair or replace hand pump.
Hydraulic fittings loose Tighten hydraulic fittings between hand pump and lift cylinder
Malfunctioning lift cylinder Repair or replace lift cylinder
Hammer group does not separate ball stud/pin cylinder Ball stud was incorrectly installed (over torqued, absence of moly paste, assembled while frozen, etc.) Verify hammer setup, then strike ball stud/pin cylinder with hammer group for an extra 30 seconds. Repeat process up to 3 times. If components do not separate, submit issue through DSN.
Hammer group was improperly set up Verify setup of the hammer group. Ensure that the extension/adapter/work tool is properly engaged, caster wheels are bottomed, lower plate rests flat against floor, load lock mechanism is engaged, and internal hydraulic cylinder is retracted.
Low oil level in hydraulic power source Verify oil level
Insufficient hydraulic flow or pressure Verify that the flow rate and pressure from the hydraulic power source meet the following specifications:8.5 gpm (32.2 lpm)
2,359 psi (162 bar)
Hammer group does not bottom to floor (caster wheels do not compress) Improper combination of work tools/extensions/adapters Verify that under chassis height and select components are in accordance with Table 1.
Under chassis height exceeds allowable work tool/extension/adapter working range. Measure the distance required. Place a spacer (steel plate) on the floor below the tool. The
