Remove the fuel transfer pump.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove drive coupling (2) from the drive shaft. Remove O-ring seal (1).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove the following items from the bracket assembly: cap (7), washer (6), set screw (5), valve spring (4) and poppet valve (3).

Remove bolts (8) and head assembly (9).

If valve assembly (10) is damaged, head assembly (9) must be replaced. Valve assembly (10) is a nonserviceable item.

Remove gasket (11). Remove plate assembly (12). Remove the O-ring seal from the side of the plate assembly that is opposite of gasket (11). Note: If the bushings in plate assembly (12) are damaged, use Tooling (A) to remove the bushings.

Remove sleeves (13) from bracket assembly (16). Remove idler gear (14) and drive shaft (15) from bracket assembly (16). Remove the lip seals from bracket assembly (16). Note: If the bushings in bracket assembly (16) are damaged, use Tooling (A) to remove the bushings.
