This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5418" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from Parts Stock as soon as possible.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the June 28, 1998 (Revised April 1999) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the TERMINATION DATE.

The 1246639 Thrust Plate which is part of the 1253427 and 1253430 HEUI Pump Drive Groups may break and cause the speed timing sensor to lose contact resulting in the shut-down of the engine.

Remove all 1246639 Brass Thrust Plates from Parts Stock.
Affected Product
Replace the 1246639 Brass Thrust Plate and all washers with the 1502392 Steel Thrust Plate and the two 9N0869 Washers. Remove the 9S8752 Nut from the 1W0174, 4N5226, 127-5561, or 137-8142 Housing Groups and replace with a 2K4973 Nut.
