992G (ADZ1-Up, 7HR1-Up)
Component Code: 7155SUBJECT: THE LATEST 992G RADIATOR GUARD MAY EXPERIENCE VERY EARLY HOUR CRACKING.
PROBLEM: The 194-1015 Guard Assembly (ADZ) and 194-0948 Guard Assembly (7HR) for the 992G may experience early hour cracks. Failure to maintain the cracks can result in hydraulic, or steering cooler core damage. Premature cracking is suspect on new machines ADZ187-Up, on any 194-1015, or 194-0948 Guard Assembly purchased new from parts, or on any 167-7571 (ADZ) or 112-7237 (7HR) Guard after PS40333 has been applied.
SOLUTION: As interim containment, the areas shown in Illustration 1 should be inspected every 500 hours, and if cracked, weld repaired. The first cracks are believed to occur at the left end of the angle iron that supports the bottom of the hydraulic and steering coolers. Cracks have also been found in the cooler mounting cutouts of the top angle iron that supports the top of the hydraulic and steering coolers. The cracks will continue at regular intervals after weld repair so inspections should continue until a fix has been identified.
PS40333 has been canceled and should not be completed on any additional machines. A service letter will be released to repair all ADZ and 7HR radiator guards once a design providing adequate life is completed and validated.
