Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach a suitable lifting device to piston motor (3) and position piston motor (3) to fan drive assembly (9). The weight of piston motor (3) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).
Install bolts (13) .

Reposition fan drive assembly (9) on suitable blocking.
Position fan spider assembly (10). The weight of fan spider assembly (10) is approximately 71 kg (157 lb). The blades should be facing the downward direction, as shown.
Install bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 5 lb ft).
Install bolt (12) and the adapter. Tighten bolt (12) to a torque of 215 40 N m (160 30 lb ft).

Attach a suitable lifting device to piston motor (3) and position fan drive assembly (9). The weight of fan drive assembly (9) is 245 kg (540 lb).
Install bolts (8) that fasten fan drive assembly (9) to the radiator guard assembly.

Install lower fan guard assembly (7) .
Install center fan guard assemblies (6) .

Connect hose assemblies (4) to piston motor (3) .
Install clamps (5) .

Use two people in order to install upper grill (2). The weight of upper grill (2) is approximately 30 kg (65 lb).
