Use hydraulic oil to lubricate the threads on the rod where the piston will be assembled.
Install the piston. Torque the piston to 700 70 N m (516 52 lb ft).
Use a clean rag and an appropriate cleaner to remove debris from the threads of both the rod and the rod nut.
Apply red Loctite 2760. The Loctite should be applied in the shape of a triangle. The Loctite should not be applied to the first five threads of the rod. The base of the triangle should be approximately 25.4 mm (1.00 inch) wide. Refer to illustration 2 Note: Do not use a substitute for red Loctite 2760.

Install the rod nut. Torque the rod nut to 8500 200 N m (6270 150 lb ft).
Remove any excess Loctite.
Allow the rod to cure for at least 1 hour before continuing with the process. Note: Loctite 2760 cures to 50% of the final strength in 1 hour. Loctite 2760 cures to 100% of the final strength in 24 hours.
