While the engine is running, the switch status for the driven equipment input at the Electronic Control Module (ECM) becomes open. The code is logged.
The red stop lamp is activated.
The engine is prevented from cranking, or the engine is shut down. Probable Causes

Request from the Driven Equipment
Determine whether the driven equipment has generated a request for the start inhibit or for the shutdown. Determine the cause for the request. Service the driven equipment according to the recommendations of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the equipment.Faulty Circuit for the Driven Equipment
This input uses a low side ECM driver in order to read the status of the driven equipment. In order for the ECM to crank the engine, the circuit must become grounded. In order for the ECM to allow the engine to remain running, the circuit must remain grounded.For information that is related to troubleshooting the circuit that is for the user-defined shutdown, refer to Troubleshooting, "Shutdown - Test".
