Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Obtain S O S samples as close as possible to the recommended sampling interval. In order to receive the full effect of S O S analysis, establish a consistent trend of data. In order to establish a pertinent history of data, perform consistent samplings that are evenly spaced. Supplies for collecting samples can be obtained from your Caterpillar dealer.
Park the machine on a level surface.

Obtain a sample of the hydraulic oil through sampling valve (1). Take the oil sample when the engine is operating at low idle. Note: In order to access the sampling valve, May be necessary to use a portable access system (ladder, stair assembly, man lift, or other portable access system) that is suitable and compliant to local regulations.
Submit the sample for S O S analysis. Refer to the following publications for S O S information:
