Information:
 (30)Transmission, Bevel Gear, Flywheel Clutch And Steering Clutch Compartments
1. Oil should be warm before draining. Remove drain plugs from bevel gear case and flywheel housing. 2. Remove cover and screen from flywheel housing.3. Wash screen in clean solvent. Install screen and cover.4. Change filter element. Wash magnetic strainer. See item 17.5. Install bevel gear and flywheel clutch housing drain plugs. 6. Remove breather from filler cap. Install new breather. 7. Fill compartment. See refill capacities. Start engine and check oil level. Oil should be up to FULL mark on gauge.(31)Cable Control Gear Case
1. Remove fill and drain plugs. Allow oil to drain.2. Clean and install drain plug. 3. Fill gear case with oil to level of fill plug opening. Install fill plug. See refill capacities.(32)Flywheel Clutch Control Lever (If Equipped With Fitting)
Remove floor plate and lubricate 1 fitting.(33)Brake Control Shaft Bearing (If Equipped With Fittings)
Remove floor plate and lubricate 2 fittings.(34)Steering Clutch Control Lever Bearings (If Equipped With Fittings)
1. Remove dash cover and lubricate 2 fittings. 2. Open access door under console and lubricate 2 fittings. 3. Remove floor plate and lubricate 2 fittings.(35)Diesel Engine Valve Lash
Check valve lash with engine stopped. Do not use starter to turn flywheel. Always turn flywheel in direction of normal rotation. 1. Remove valve cover. 2. Turn engine to close No. 1 exhaust and inlet valves. 3. Remove plug and install bolt (Part No. L2070) in flywheel. 4. Check valve lash for No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 exhaust valves. Adjust if necessary. See page 23. 5. Check valve lash for No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 inlet valves. Adjust if necessary.6. Remove bolt from flywheel.7. Turn flywheel 360° to close No. 6 exhaust and inlet valves.8. Install bolt in flywheel. 9. Check valve lash for No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 exhaust valves. Adjust if necessary. 10. Check valve lash for No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 inlet valves. Adjust if necessary. 11. Remove bolt and install plug. Start engine and operate at low idle. 12. Check valve rotators. If valves do not rotate see your Caterpillar dealer. 13. Stop engine and install valve cover. Tighten bolts to 6 to 7 lb. ft. (0,83 to 1,39 mkg) in the above sequence.Adjusting Valve Lash
1. Loosen locknut and turn adjusting screw. 2. Check adjustment.3. Tighten locknut and recheck adjustment.4. Remove bolt.(36)Hydraulic Control System
1. Park tractor on level ground and lower all implements. 2. Stop engine. Remove fill cap and drain plug. Allow oil to drain.3. Clean and install drain plug.4. Change filter element. See item 24. 5. Remove filler strainer. Wash strainer in clean solvent. Install strainer. 6. Add oil to tank until it is visible in sight gauge. See refill capacities.7. Start engine and operate a few minutes.8. Recheck oil level.9. Add oil as required.
