If necessary, spot mill the contact surface on all three sides. Ensure that the contact surface is parallel to the front surface of the fuel injection pump and perpendicular to the stud. Refer to illustration 1.
Remove the front cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Cover - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the fuel injection pump gear to improve access. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Group (Front) - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Remove the existing studs from the housing (front).
Ensure that the mounting surface of the front housing is flat, clean, and free from damage.
Obtain three new 8T-4154 Bolts. Extend the threads of the three bolts down to the head of the bolt with a suitable die.
Install the three 8T-4154 Bolts into the housing (front). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 11 N m (97 lb in).
Install the fuel injection pump gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Group (Front) - Install" for the correct procedure.
Install the front cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Cover - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Install a new O-ring seal. Install the fuel injection pump to the housing (front). Apply Loctite to the threads of the nuts. Install the nuts to the 8T-4154 Bolts. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 24 N m (18 lb ft).
Ensure that the rear mounting bracket is square and free from damage. Ensure that the bolt holes in the cylinder block are clean, flat, and the threads in the holes are not damaged.
Position mounting bracket below the fuel injection pump. Apply Loctite to bolts. Install the bolts to the mounting bracket finger tight. Install the nut to the bolt that secures the fuel injection pump to the mounting bracket finger tight. Tighten the fasteners to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
