Read all instructions prior to installing the hardware. Be sure to consider the length and routing of harnesses when installing the hardware to minimize extra hardware needed.Note: Ensure that power is disconnected from the battery during the beginning steps of the installation.Mounting Requirements
Primary mounting location is inside the cab.
Do not mount the scanner in an area that will expose the scanner to extreme conditions of heat. Exposure to high heat may make the scanner inoperable.
Locate the scanner so that the connector is not exposed to high-pressure spray or underwater immersion. Exposure to high-pressure spray or underwater immersion may compromise the connector seals and lead to connection failure.
Locate the scanner so that the scanner is not exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
Route the cable in such a way, that the cable is not subject to abrasion or pinching.
Do not mount on a cantilever.
Place the scanner in an area that is easily accessible and can be serviced in a reasonable amount of time.Installing the Bluetooth Scanner
The Bluetooth Scanner has two mounting options, adhesive mount and hard mount.Note: For best results with adhesive mounting, ensure that the mounting surface is clean and dry.Electrical Connections
The harness included with the scanner provides a quick and simple wiring solution for the Bluetooth Scanner. The harness includes a 9-pin or 14-pin connector that is connected to the assets standard service port. Next to the connector on the harness is an unterminated key switch power wire. The key switch wire is yellow and has a label with "KEY SW" printed on it.Before connecting the harness to the assets service port, determine if pin A of the service port is powered by switched power or unswitched power. With the assets master disconnect closed and the ignition key switch in the OFF position, use a multimeter to check the voltage on pin A of the assets standard service port connector. If system voltage is detected on pin A, refer to "Service Port with Unswitched Power". If no system voltage is detected on pin A, refer to "Service Port with Switched Power".Service Port with Unswitched Power
Note: Perform these instructions only if unswitched power was detected on pin A of the assets standard service port. The Bluetooth Scanner requires both unswitched and key switch power to operate properly. The harness is prewired for a service port that has unswitched power on pin A.
Open the assets master disconnect to remove all power from the system.
Connect the harness to the assets standard service port.
Route the yellow key switch wire to
