Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Use caps and plugs on all lines, hoses, and tubes in order to prevent fluid loss or contamination of the systems.

(A) OFF position. (B) ON position.
Turn the secondary disconnect switch to the OFF position (A) .

Remove drain plug (1). Drain the fuel tank in a suitable container for storage or removal. The capacity of the fuel tank is 95 L (25 US gal). Install drain plug (1) .
Remove two bolts (2) which hold the fuel tank in place.

Raise the fuel tank. Disconnect two hoses (3) and (4) from the bottom of the fuel tank. Lower the fuel tank.

Remove nut (6) and disconnect chain (5) from the fuel tank.

Disconnect wire (7) from the fuel tank.

Remove two bolts (8) .
Loosen two setscrews (10). Remove hinge pin (9) .

Disconnect hose assembly (11) .

Remove four bolts (12) which hold the valve group in place.

Disconnect sixteen wire connectors (13) from the valve group.

Disconnect wire harness (14) from the fuel tank.

Use a suitable lifting device and move valve group (15) away from the fuel tank. The weight of the valve group is approximately 100 kg (220 lb).

Turn fuel shutoff valve (16) to the OFF position. Disconnect fuel line (17) from the fuel tank.

Attach Tooling (A) to the fuel tank. Use a suitable lifting device and remove the fuel tank. The weight of the fuel tank is approximately 60 kg (132 lb).
