When reporting the repair, use "PI30579" as the Partnumber and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim DescriptionCode and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair isdone after failure, use "PI30579" as the Part Number, "7751" as the GroupNumber, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMSDescription Code. The information supplied in this serviceletter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. (2-Table 1)Rework Procedure It is recommended on certified engines,with customer approval, to change the engine to the best fuel (BSFC) software.Making this change will improve fuel consumption and lower the amount ofsoot generated. When making this change, be certain to remove the certificationlabel by changing the valve cover (Part No. 1014197) to reflect that theengine is no longer a certified engine while operating with the BSFC software.If the engine is resold to another customer, the latest certified softwareand the original valve cover with the certification label must be reinstalled.
Turn off all supply power, prevent the enginefrom starting and lock out the equipment before working on or inside theequipment. Only qualified personnel should service this equipment. Replaceall devices, doors and covers before turning power on to this equipment.Restore all power when complete. Observe and follow all safety proceduresas described
