Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Release the pressure in the steering system and in the braking system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank for the steering system and for the braking system into a suitable container. The tank capacity is 159 L (41 US gal).

Remove cover plate (2) on the left side of the cab.

Remove dust cover (3) from the top of the brake accumulator.

Install Tooling (A) in the threaded hole of brake accumulator (4).
Attach a suitable lifting device and a suitable lifting sling to Tooling (A). The weight of brake accumulator (4) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).
Remove clamp bolt (5).

Disconnect hose assemblies (6) and (7) from the bottom of brake accumulator (4).

Remove adapters (8) from the bottom of brake accumulators (4).
Remove bolts (9) and brake accumulator (4). Repeat for the remaining brake accumulator.
