Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The fuel tank drain valve is located at the bottom of the fuel tank behind the front axle of the machine.

(1) Drain valve
(2) Plug
If equipped, the bottom guard that is below the fuel tank must be lowered or the bottom guard must be removed depending on your machine model. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bottom Guard Lowering" for the correct procedure.
Remove plug (2) from the fuel tank drain valve assembly.
Open drain valve (1). Allow the water and the sediment to drain into a suitable container. Close the drain valve.
Install the plug into the fuel tank drain valve assembly.
If equipped, install the bottom guard that was lowered or the bottom guard that was removed in step 1 above. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bottom Guard Lowering" for the correct procedure.
