The main components of the conveyor drive hydraulic system are a multiple unit gear-type pump driven by the pump drive gearbox, two low speed and high torque gear-type motors that turn the upper conveyor head pulley, one low speed and high torque gear-type motor that turns the lower conveyor head pulley, and two relief valves.
PR-750B CONVEYOR DRIVE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM The conveyor drive hydraulic system is an open-center system. Hydraulic oil flows from the hydraulic oil tank to the dual-section pump, to the upper conveyor and lower conveyor motors, and then back to the tank. Each section of the pump drives one conveyor.Anytime the Caterpillar engine is running, the conveyor drive pump is discharging hydraulic oil. The oil from each pump section flows through a pilot operated relief valve that is controlled by auxiliary (control) hydraulic pressure. When the conveyor control is at "On", auxiliary pressure is applied to the valves, closing the valves and causing the hydraulic oil to flow to the conveyor motors. When the conveyor control is at "Off", the auxiliary pressure is cut off from the valves, the valves open, and the hydraulic oil flows through the valves to the return (system) filters, to the hydraulic oil cooler and then to the oil tank.
