Illustration 2 g02798224Use the flow chart that is in Illustration 1 and Illustration 2 along with the Step procedure in order to troubleshoot codes CID 0091 FMI 08 and CID 1326 FMI 09.An abnormal update has occurred. The PCP has lost communications with the ECM.Troubleshooting:Test Step 1. CHECK THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, AND WIRING.
Inspect the data link connectors for the PCP, ETP, and the ECM.
Inspect the battery connections for the PCP, ETP, and the ECM.
Inspect the circuit breakers in order to verify that the circuit breakers are not tripped.
Inspect the harnesses for the following conditions:
Corrosion
Abrasion
Pinch points
Incorrect attachment
Ensure that all connectors, pins, and sockets are mated completely.

OK - All harnesses are in good condition. Go to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - All harnesses are not in good condition.Repair: After the repair, verify that the diagnostic code is NOT active.STOPTest Step 2. ENSURE THAT THE NUMBER OF TERMINATING RESISTORS IS CORRECT.
Ensure that there is only one terminating resistor connected to the TEE connector for the ETP.
Ensure that there is only one terminating resistor connected to the display/J1939 data link. The second terminating resistor should be connected to the TEE connector on the last display. Expected Result:The duty cycle is between 7.5 percent 2.5 percent at low idle and 93.5 percent 2.5 percent at high idle.Results:
OK - The duty cycle voltage is between 7.5 percent 2.5 percent at low idle and 93.5 percent 2.5 percent at high idle.Repair: Temporarily replace the ECM and retest.STOP
NOT OK - The duty cycle IS NOT between 7.5 percent 2.5 percent at low idle and 93.5 percent 2.5 percent at high idle.Repair: Temporarily replace the engine harness. Check to ensure the diagnostic code IS NOT active.STOPTest Step 3. SHORTEN THE DATA LINK AND RETEST.

Remove the terminating resistor from the last display TEE on the display/J1939 data link.
Remove the data run to the marine power displays (MPD) at the TEE connector for the power train control processor (PCP).
Install a terminating resistor at the TEE connector for the PCP. Refer to Illustration 4 Retest in order to determine if the diagnostic code is still active.
If the diagnostic code remains active continue with this test. Expected Result:The diagnostic code becomes logged and the diagnostic code is no longer active. Results:
OK - The diagnostic code becomes logged and the diagnostic code is no longer active.Repair: Reconnect each MPD data link one at a time. Recheck to see if the diagnostic code becomes active.If the diagnostic code becomes active, then go to the Diagnostic Functional Tests, "Data Link (Marine Power Display) - Test". If the diagnostic is NOT active, then this portion of the test is complete.STOP
NOT OK - The diagnostic code does not become logged and the diagnostic code remains active. Go to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. MEASURE THE VOLTAGE AT THE ECM.
