Removal Procedure
Personal injury may occur from failure to properly service the batteries.Batteries give off flammable fumes that can explode. Electrolyte is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts the skin or eyes.Prevent sparks near the batteries. Sparks could cause vapors to explode. Do not allow jumper cable ends to contact each other or the engine. Improper jumper cable connections can cause an explosion.Always wear protective glasses when working with batteries.

Open right rear door assembly (1).
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Reposition terminal covers (2) to gain access to the battery terminals.

Remove clips (5). Loosen nuts (3) and nuts (4). Disconnect the battery cables.

Remove locknut (6) and hold-down assembly (8). Use two people to remove batteries (7). The weight of batteries (7) is approximately 26 kg (57 lb). Remove batteries (7).Installation Procedure
Install batteries (7) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten locknut (6) to a torque of 30 3 N m (266 27 lb in).
Tighten nuts (3) and nuts (4) to a torque of 7 2 N m (62 18 lb in).
