If administered beforefailure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" asthe SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as theWarranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. The information supplied in this serviceletter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. The control valve may stop working or operatevery slowly when the oil temperature is high on certain 416D Backhoe Loaders.The machines need to be tested to determine whether or not a repair isnecessary. This program covers dealer cost for performing the hot oil testingon machines in the dealer inventory and assisting the factory personnelthat are performing the repair of the control valve. Machines that havebeen shipped to customers will be handled under a separate service letter.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Refer to the Safety Section of theOperation and Maintenance Manual and the Safety Decals located on the backhoeloader before beginning this test.
Engage the boom lock and swing pin lock.
Heat oil by simultaneously holding the BOOM DOWNand REAR BUCKET CURL functions until the backhoe valve inlet manifold temperaturereaches 100-110 degrees Celsius. The backhoe inlet manifold is locatedon the machine right hand side of the backhoe valve stack. The temperatureshould be taken at ONE-MINUTE intervals to ensure the temperature DOESNOT EXCEED 110 degrees Celsius.
It is recommended that two people perform thistest, one to heat the machine and one to monitor the backhoe inlet manifoldtemperature.
The temperature at the backhoe valve inlet manifoldmust be kept between 100-110 degrees Celsius during backhoe and loaderimplement function tests.
While holding BOOM DOWN and REAR BUCKET CURL,slowly operate loader lift (raise and lower) function to circulate heatedoil to the loader valve.
Check all backhoe implement functions:
All functions need to be checked for movementhowever they do not need to be fully cycled. Listen for sound changes comingfrom the hydraulic pump, indicating the pump is upstroking for auxiliaryfunctions.
Let all functions rest for 8 seconds between activation.
Verify temperature at the backhoe
