Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Turn OFF the supply of pressurized air. Purge the pressurized air from the air lines and the starting motor.

Disconnect the hose from elbow (1).
Disconnect the air supply line from tee (2).
Disconnect electrical connector (3).

Attach suitable straps and a lifting device to the starting motor and to the air lines. The weight of the starting motor with the air lines is approximately 65 kg (143 lb).
Remove three bolts (4) that attach the starting motor to the flywheel housing. Remove the starting motor and the air lines as a unit.
Remove the gasket from the joint between the starting motor and the flywheel housing. Discard the gasket.

Disconnect two hoses (5) from the starting motor.

Remove two bolts and washers (6) and remove the spacers that are under bracket (8). Remove two nuts and washers (7) and remove the U-bolt that is under the bracket. Remove bracket (8).
Remove four bolts (9) that attach elbow (10) to the starting motor. Remove the air lines and elbow (10) from the starting motor as a unit.
Remove the gasket from the joint between elbow (10) and the starting motor. Discard the gasket.

Remove the bolts and washers (11) that attach elbow (12) and silencer (13) to the starting motor. Remove the elbow and the silencer from the starting motor as a unit.
Remove the gasket from the joint between the elbow and the starting motor. Discard the gasket.
