Use this procedure to troubleshoot the following event code.

Code and Description Conditions which Generate this Code System Response
E265(1) User-Defined Shutdown The inputs from the ground level shutdown switch to the Electronic Control Module (ECM) have changed states. The code is logged.
The engine will shut down.
E268(1) Unexpected Engine Shutdown The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects an engine speed that is equal to zero rpm without the activation of an engine shutdown device. The code is logged.
The ECM activates an operator warning to alert the operator to the condition. Probable Causes

1. Operator
A. Interview the operator and determine the events that caused the engine to stall.
B. Delay engine shutdown may not have completed.

Result: The operator is operating the engine correctly.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: The operator is not operating the engine correctly.
Operate the engine correctly.
2. Fuel
A. The engine ran out of fuel.
Fuel
Result: The engine is out of fuel.
Supply the engine with an adequate fuel supply.
Verify that the repair eliminated the problem.
Result: The engine is not out of fuel.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
3. Mechanical Failure
A. Check for a mechanical failure.
Mechanical failure
Result: A mechanical failure has occurred.
Diagnose the problem and then repair the problem.
Verify that the repair eliminated the problem.
Complete the procedure in the order in which the steps are listed.The procedure corrected the issue.
