Information:
Which Generate This Code:Two harness codes are necessary for describing the machine and the setup of the machine. The harness code plug is directly connected to the power train ECM.The ECM combines the two pieces of information. This diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM detects a change in the harness code information during the machine operation. This diagnostic code is also recorded when the harness code information is not valid. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The harness code that is received is invalid.
A circuit in the harness code (wire 202-BK) is open or shorted to ground incorrectly.
The wrong harness code plug is installed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: Ensure that the CID 0650 FMI 12 is active. This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. When the procedure is completed, clear the created diagnostic codes.System Response:A level 2 warning will be generated. The Auto Carry functions are disabled.Test Step 1. CHECK THE HARNESS CODE PLUG.
Verify that the correct harness code plug is being used for the machine that is being serviced. See the schematic of the machine for more detailed information.Expected Result:The correct harness code plug is being used. Results:
YES - The harness code plug that is being used is correct. Proceed to test step 2.
NO - The harness code plug is not correct for the machine.Repair: Install the correct harness code plug. Verify that the new harness code plug corrects the problem.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the harness code plug from the machine.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 machine harness connectors from the ECM.
Measure the resistance from each connector contact of the harness code plug to all possible sources of ground. Expected Result:Each resistance measurement should be less than 5.0 ohms. Results:
OK - Each resistance measurement is less than 5.0 ohms. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - One or more resistance measurements are greater than 5000 ohms.Repair: There is an open in the machine harness. The open is in the circuit with the high resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Verify that the repair or the replacement corrects the problem.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Clean all contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Clear all active diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check whether CID 0650 FMI 12 is active. Expected Result:The diagnostic code is NO longer active. Results:
OK - The diagnostic code is NO longer active. The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NOT OK - The diagnostic code has not been corrected. Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the implement ECM. See Troubleshooting, "Electronic
