Remove bolt (7). Remove retainer (8) .

Use Tooling (B) in order to retract axle shaft (9) and bearing (10) by approximately 610 mm (2 ft). Do not remove axle shaft (9) and bearing (10) at this time.

Attach a suitable lifting device onto axle shaft (9). The weight of axle shaft (9) is approximately 47 kg (103 lb). Remove Tooling (B) from axle shaft (9). Remove axle shaft (9) and bearing (10) .

Use Tooling (C) in order to remove bearing (10) from axle shaft (9) .
Repeat the procedure for the remaining axle shaft.Installation Procedure

Install bearing (10) onto axle shaft (9) .Note: Ensure that bearing (10) is seated correctly onto axle shaft (9) .

Apply Tooling (D) onto bearing (10) and the planetary carrier. Use a suitable lifting device in order to position axle shaft (9) and bearing (10). The weight of axle shaft (9) is approximately 47 kg (103 lb). Remove the lifting device. Use Tooling (B) in order to install axle shaft (9) and bearing (10) .

Install retainer (8). Apply Tooling (E) onto new bolt (7). Install new bolt (7) .

Install O-ring seal (6) onto retainer (5) .

Install retainer (5). Install bolts (4) .

Install gasket (3). Install cover (2). Apply Tooling (F) onto bolts (1). Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 27 7 N m (20 5 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (A) from the front tires and the rear tires.
Disconnect the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".
Fill the tandem housing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tandem Drive Oil - Change".
Fill the differential. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission and Differential Oil - Change".
