The hydraulic tank is mounted on an angle.If the filter elements become full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil causes a pressure increase inside filter elements (15). The pressure of the oil causes filter bypass valve (1) to move against the force of the spring. This allows the flow to bypass the filter and flows through the tube into the hydraulic tank.When the oil does not flow through the filter elements, the debris in the oil can cause damage to the other components that are within the hydraulic system. Correct maintenance must be performed in order to make sure that filter elements (15) do not become full of debris.Oil cooler supply valve (4) directs hot hydraulic oil to the hydraulic oil cooler in order to keep the oil within the specification. Refer to "Oil Cooler and Supply Valve" in this module for additional information on this supply valve.
