ACTION REQUIRED
A repair to the D3:C4 Nav 10.4 Display touchscreen may be needed if the display stops partially, or fully, responding to touchscreen input. The following steps describe the process that the dealer must follow in order for the displays to be repaired within a maximum of 30 days turn around.
1. Dealers must examine and confirm that the display is not responding or recognizing selections on the screen.
2. Backup key files for the CAES or Aquila Drill & Dragline systems.
3. Contact the Caterpillar Machine Control & Guidance Repair Center to receive an RMA number prior to shipping the display.
An individual RMA number is required for each display for it to be repaired.
4. Ship the display to Caterpillar Machine Control & Guidance Repair Center. Refer to the Parts Disposition section for shipping information.
The cost of any additional repairs not related to the touchscreen issue listed above, will NOT be covered under this service letter.
5. Caterpillar Machine Control & Guidance Repair Center will provide a quote for the repair of the touchscreen and any additional repairs for the display to be functional.
6. The Dealer will issue a Purchase Order to Caterpillar Machine Control & Guidance Repair Center for the full amount of the repairs.
7. The Dealer will submit a claim under the Service Letter for the amount outlined in the Service Claim Allowances section that covers the cost of the touchscreen repair.
8. Return the repaired display back to the dealer or customer machine.
Additional Information
Dealers may need to provide a loaner or rental display while the customer display is being serviced.
Caterpillar is providing dealers with the ability to purchase a used D3:C4 Nav 10.4 Display with a buy back feature. Dealers can use the display to support customer up-time while the customer display is being serviced. The dealer has the ability to exercise the buy back feature within the terms of this optional used display offer.
Terms of optional used display offer:
Purchase terms
- One D3:C4 Nav 10.4 Display per dealer
- Dealer net price: $9,500 US dollars
- Warranty: 90 day parts and labor from date of purchase.
- Used display offer expiration: At termination date of this service letter or when available inventory is exhausted.
Buy back terms
- Buy back price: $4,750 US dollars minus the costs to repair display to operating condition.
- Buy back only applies to exact serial number of display that was purchased under terms of program
- Buyback expiration: 6 months from termination date of this service letter
