2. Put identification marks on the wire harnesses for correct assembly during installation.3. Disconnect wire harness (1) from the lockup clutch and synchronizing valve.4. Disconnect wire harness (5) from the downshift solenoid.5. Disconnect wire harness (7) from the upshift solenoid.6. Disconnect wire harness (3) from the slave switch assembly.7. Remove bolts (2), (4) and (6), and move the wire harnesses away from the transmission. 8. Disconnect hose assembly (8). Remove two fittings (10) from the transmission.9. Disconnect hose assembly (9) from the lockup clutch and synchronizing valve.10. Loosen clamp (13). Remove the bolts that hold tube assembly (11) in place, and remove the tube assembly.11. Disconnect hose assemblies (12) and (14). 12. Disconnect hose assembly (18) from screen assembly (20). Remove the bolts that hold the screen assembly to the transmission.13. Remove the bolts that hold retarder control valve (19) to the transmission, and remove the retarder control valve.14. Fasten a hoist and two 5/8"-11 NC forged eyebolts to the transmission as shown.15. Remove bolts (16) from each side of the transmission support. Support the weight of the torque converter, retarder and transmission with the hoist. Install blocks (21) under the rear of the engine.16. Remove bolts (17), and remove torque converter, retarder and transmission (15). The weight of the torque converter, retarder and transmission is 815 kg (1800 lb.).Install Torque Converter, Retarder And Transmission
1. Fasten a hoist and two 5/8"-11 NC forged eyebolts to the torque converter, retarder and transmission.2. Make sure O-ring seal (1) is in position. Put clean oil on the O-ring seal. 3. Put the torque converter, retarder and transmission in position on the engine, and install bolts (2).4. Support the weight of the engine, and remove blocks (5).5. Lower the transmission to the frame rails, and install bolts (3) on each side of the transmission support.6. Put retarder control valve (4) in position, and install the bolts that hold it.7. Put screen assembly (6) in position, and install the bolts that hold it in place.8. Connect hose assembly (7) to the screen assembly. 9. Connect hose assembly (13) to the torque converter.10. Connect hose assembly (14) to the transmission lubrication relief valve.11. Put tube assembly (10) in place, and install the bolts that hold it. Tighten hose clamp (12).12. Connect hose assembly (8) to the lockup clutch and synchronizing valve.13. Install two fittings (11) in the transmission. Connect hose assembly (9) to the fitting. 14. Put the wire harnesses and clips in position, and install bolts (15), (17) and (19) to hold them in place.15. Connect wire harness (16) to the lockup clutch and synchronizing valve.16. Connect wire harness (18) to the slave switch assembly.17. Connect wire harness (20) to the downshift solenoid.18.
