MOTOR GRADER,
Information:
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Always use a designated pump for oil sampling, and use a separate designated pump for coolant sampling. Using the same pump for both types of samples may contaminate the samples that are being drawn. This contaminate may cause a false analysis and an incorrect interpretation that could lead to concerns by both dealers and customers.
Obtain the hydraulic oil sample as close as possible to the recommended sampling interval. In order to receive the full effect of S O S oil analysis, establish a consistent trend of data. In order to establish a pertinent history of data, perform consistent oil samplings that are evenly spaced.Obtain a sample of the hydraulic system oil on this machine from the filler tube of the hydraulic oil tank. The hydraulic oil tank filler tube and the hydraulic filler cap are located on top of the front left-hand corner of the engine compartment.
Operate the machine in order to warm the oil.
Park the machine on level ground. Lower the implement so that the bucket is placed flat on the ground with a slight downward pressure.
Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

(2) Access door
Open access door (2) to the engine air cleaner compartment on the right-hand side of the machine. Hydraulic tank breaker relief valve (1) is located on the top of the hydraulic tank forward of the engine air cleaner housing. Press hydraulic tank breaker relief valve in order to relieve any tank pressure.
Close the access door to the engine air cleaner compartment.

(3) Hydraulic oil tank filler cap
Slowly remove filler cap (3).
Clean the filler cap in a clean nonflammable solvent.
Keep the lids in place on empty sampling bottles until you are ready to collect the sample. Complete the information on the label for the sampling bottle before you begin to take the sample.
Collect the sample from the hydraulic tank filler tube. Use a designated pump to collect the sample in order to avoid contamination. Note: A filler strainer is installed in the hydraulic oil tank. The filler strainer will restrict sampling of the hydraulic system oil to the upper portion of the hydraulic oil tank.
Do not collect a sample from the hydraulic tank drain.
Replace the filler cap.
