Steering System Pressure Test
SMCS Code: 4300-032-PX
Personal injury can result from removing the hydraulic tank filler cap too fast. Depress the hydraulic tank breaker relief valve then slowly loosen the filler cap on the tank to permit the pressure in the tank to decrease before the installation or removal of any test equipment. To prevent possible personal injury, make reference to on the first page of the Testing and Adjusting section.
Main Relief Valve
Screw Adjustment Type
1. Install the steering frame lock link so that the machine can not turn. If the steering frame lock link can not be installed, the pressure setting can be checked by an adjustment of the striker that is not correct. This allows the front and rear frame stops to come into contact.
STEERING CONTROL VALVE LOCATION
(1) Pressure test point. (2) Pressure adjusting screw.2. Remove protective cover and attach a hose with a quick coupler to pressure test point (1) with a (0 to 28 000 kPa or 0 to 4000 psi) pressure gauge.3. Start the engine and operate it at high idle.4. Steer the machine in both directions until the relief valve opens. Note the indication on the gauge in both directions. The correct relief pressure setting is 17 240 520 kPa (2500 75 psi).
STEERING CONTROL VALVE
(2) Pressure adjusting screw. (3) Locknut.5. If the pressure is not the same in both directions, there is a problem in the shuttle valve. If the pressure is the same in both directions, but the pressure
